"I prefer being in news rather than being on Page 3.": Kay Kay Menon

The failure of his last release Drona has not deterred Kay Kay Menon at all. He is all set for his upcoming film, The Stoneman Murders. Not many know that Kay Kay was known as Kichu among his friends. Kay Kay's initial focus was working in the advertsing industry. Subsequently, he started his career in theatre productions which gradually moved to television acting and finally film acting. Catch Kay Kay Menon at his witty best as he speaks exclusively with Pankaj Sabnani from BIGOYE..

You have given very good performances in films like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Black Friday, Corporate, Sarkar, Life in a Metro and Mumbai Meri Jaan. Why do you still prefer to keep low?
I am here because of my work. So my work should do the talking. If I try to supersede my work, then my work will go for a toss. I like to be on Page 1 in a newspaper as part of news rather than on Page 3.

Do you consider yourself to be an intense actor?
I do not know how to measure intensity. If intensity is required in a particular scene, I try and deliver it. If you deliver it well, it stays with the audience and that is how you get termed as an ‘intense’ actor. It is human tendency to typecast you. It is just a question of how well you do something.

your role in your forthcoming film The Stoneman Murders.
My character is called Sanjay Shelar, I play the role of a suspended cop in the film. The film is based on a real life incident but is more of fiction. I would say it is a good mix of fiction and fact. Although my character is completely fictional.

You said that you play the role of a suspended cop. Does your character have shades of grey?
My character has a shade of grey and pink. He is sometimes green and black here and there. He is also white at times (laughs). See, my character is a human being. A human being is a mixture of positive and negative traits. Nobody on earth can be completely good or completely bad. I try my best not to make my cha

racter one dimensional. Unfortunately, our film industry normally does not follow that.

Have you ever hit a stone at anyone?
I have not thrown stones at anyone but many people have hit stones at me.

What are your future projects?
I have two comedies lined up; Sankat City and Aage Se Right. Apart from these, there is Anurag Kashyap’s Gulaal and David Dhawan’s Hook Ya Crook.
