"It is not wrong to be in a relationship with your co-star.": Vidya Balan
Apart from acting and a bad dressing-sense, Vidya Balan is also known for her social commitments. This time around, the pretty girl has gone ahead and given her voice for a children’s audio book series. Catch the Parineeta girl in conversation with Pankaj Sabnani from BIGOYE. Excerpts from the interview:
Being an actress, what made you turn a storyteller?
Gulzar saab is the reason why I ended up doing Karadi Tales, the audio book series for kids. I remember when I was young there was this place Kala Ghoda near my college. There was a festival going on where Gulzar saab was about to have a reading of Karadi Tales. I was very excited and went there to see and listen to him. From that day itself, I had this dream to record a story of Karadi Tales. I never imagine that I will be actually working on this with him one day.
Did you love reading books when you were a kid? What were your favourite books?
When I was a kid, I did not like reading at all. There were not many colourful books during that time. The illustrations and stories are so good today that even I am interested in reading the books. I wish there were such books when I was a kid. I read a lot these days. I truly believe that r
How different is story-telling from acting?
Being an actor, to tell a story only through voice without expressions is a different challenge altogether. When you are on stage, you can underplay your voice. But here, you have to rely on your voice much more. However, recording your voice is fun.
You were linked with John Abraham and Shahid Kapur in the past. What do you have to say about the romantic link-ups between actors before their films release?
I don't think it is wrong to have a relationship with your co-star. But if nothing is going on between the actors, it gets pretty annoying to hear or read such reports about the so called alleged link
You have lost a lot of weight. Is it for a particular film?
It just happened. It is not for any film. Watching weight is not a concern for me at all.
Tell us about your forthcoming projects?
I have Ishqiya with Arshad and Naseeruddin Shah. It is directed by Abhishek Chaube. Then there is Pa with Mr. Bachchan and Abhishek. It is being directed by R. Balakrishnan.
You are lucky to work with Amitabh Bachchan again?
Yes, I will be working with him again in Pa after Eklavya. It is an honour to be working with him. He is very dedicated, passionate and hardworking. He can put all of us to shame.
