‘Raat Gayi, Baat Gayi?’ is a whodunit on a one night stand. No one sure knows for sure if it actually happened. The film catches Rahul (Rajat Kapoor) waking up with a bad hangover and a visibly upset wife (Irawati)... he remembers snatches of a conversation he had the previous night, a party, a stunning woman (Neha Dhupia). The film revolves around Rahul trying to find out what actually happened the previous night.
The film is more about three couples and their man-woman relationship.

Although slow and dragging at some parts, Saurabh Shukla’s take on modern urban society and changing moral values is close to reality. The USP of the film is real life situations and genuine performances by an ensemble cast. His storytelling is for niche audience and the film is definitely not a regular Bollywood film. However, it lacks spice and pace.

Co-written by Rajat Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla, the film is a romantic comedy from the team of ‘Bheja Fry’ with a backdrop of about marital crisis and relationships. Their writing and presentation is mature but we wish the film had a faster pace. The climax of the film, that adds zing to the dull proceedings, earns brownie points.

The film boasts of an ensemble cast and, needless to say, every actor puts forth a genuine performance. Rajat Kapoor is polished, Vinay Pathak is natural, Anu Menon has a perfect comic timing, Irawati is consistent, Navneet Nisshan is little loud and Ranvir Shorey is brilliant in a cameo.
‘Raat Gayi, Baat Gayi?' is a film for niche audience. If you are tired of Bollywood masala flicks, this adult comedy will be a refreshing change.
