Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen gets a massive opening

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the sci-fi action sequel to Transformers, (a film based on the 1980s toys that shift shape from cars and planes to become alien Autobots and Decepticons) has raked in a whopping $ 387 Million opening cumulative collection at International box office.

opened across the world, setting the fourth highest all-time international weekend gross. The film was number one in all 60 territories it was released in. 

The biggest of 58 openings was in China, where the film recorded the all-time highest opening gross for an English language film, with a weekend total of $21.9mn from 1,009 locations, 65% more than the original Transformers movie.  Elsewhere, there were huge openings in Korea ($14.9mn from 1038 locations), Australia ($13.0mn from 242 locations), and Russia ($11.8mn from 564 locations), with the film outperforming Transformers by 41%, 80%, and 69% respectively.  The film shattered records across the globe, setting new all-time highest opening grosses in Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. The film kept the number one spot in the UK with a five-day gross of $10.2mn from 505 locations.   

The highly-anticipated Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will be released in India on July 10, 2009 by Paramount Films of India. The movie will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu across all major and mini metros with 260 plus prints. 

In the film, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) again joins with the Autobots® against their sworn enemies, the Decepticons®.  Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky prisoner, after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers. Joining the mission to protect humankind is Optimus Prime, who forms an alliance with international armies for a second epic battle.

Michael Bay directs from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger & Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman. The movie stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, John Benjamin Hickey, Ramon Rodriguez, Isabel Lucas and John Turturro.
