Dhoondte Reh Jaoge is a pure comedy about a bankrupt film producer Raj (Paresh Rawal) who wants to cast superstar Aryan (Sonu Sood) and needs a financer. He teams up with Anand (Kunal Khemu) to raise big money from various financers to produce a small-budget flop film and keep the rest in his pocket. In their attempt to create a flopbuster film, they rope in theatre actress Neha (Soha) who is also Anand’s girlfriend, a silly writer (Johny Lever) and many other weird and wacky actors, director, music directors for the film.
Direction
Writer-director Umesh Shukla triggers a laugh-a-thon with his concept of spoofing bollywood’s blockbusters – Sholay se Lagaan tak (Yeah that’s what is the title of the film Paresh and Kunal make in the movie). All actors deliver a decent performance but appear juvenile in front of veteran Paresh Rawal who seems to have a gifted skill to keep you in splits. The screenplay is tacky but dialogues do the trick. However, at times you miss the impact of an established star who would have proved to be crowd-pullers for this film. Dhoondte… lacks in this aspect.
Performances
Sonu Sood is decent in his 11 avatars inspired by Bollywood. Kunal Khemu also doesn’t disappoint. While Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever's comic timming pulls the film through, Soha doesn’t have much to do in the film.
OyeG Verdict
Though we are still wondering what was the logic behind this title for the film, Dhoondte… is a timepass, mindless comedy. Get ready for a few hearty laughs if you choose to switch off your mind. But if you go looking for starry charisma or state-of-the-art effects… all we can say is Dhoondte Reh Jaoge!
